On the seed science of representatives of the genus Feather grass (Stipa L., Poaceae Barnhart), included in the Red Book of the Nizhny Novgorod Region

Data on the morphology of fruits and seeds is important in plant identification, especially for botanical gardens, which receive a significant part planting material form seeds. We studied 18 seed samples 7 feather grass species listed Red Book Nizhny Novgorod region, obtained from various gardens: Stipa capillata L. (5 samples), S. dasyphylla (Lindem.) Trautv. (2 lessingiana Trin. et Rupr. (3 pennata pulcherrima K. Koch sareptana A. Becker tirsa Steven. samples). For each sample, weight 1000 seeds, their average dimensions (length, width, ratio width length) percentage completed were determined. Seeds weighed measured flakes (regardless completion, as they come other orchards, without awns) cleaned, grains. Samples identified, affiliation doubtful, which, after growing flowering, must be identified more accurately. The data can used to compare quality different origins, reject questionable samples, or decide whether should examined further.
